MFF 2015 posterAbout 37 new regional films will be shown during the 11th Mindanao Film Festival which will run from December 9-15 at the Gaisano Mall of Davao Cinema 6. Click for the screening schedule HERE.

Among the films for screening will include shorts coming from the students of the Guerrilla Filmmaking Workshop and the Guerrilla Film-A-Thon 24 hour filmmaking competition.

“We have received many entries this year, but we have decided to make the shortlisting of films more rigid. This time we emphasize much on quality rather on quantity. We hope that our filmmakers will be inspired to improve their craft,” says Rudolph Alama, festival director of the 11th MFF.

The festival carries the theme MFF Onse: Atong Salida (MFF 11: Our Cinema). “These regional films are a reflection of our culture, personalities and locales, we celebrate what is ours, we celebrate our regional cinema.” Alama said.

Opening the film would be the Typhoon Pablo-inspired full-length “Iisa” (As One) directed by Chuck Gutierrez and written by distinguished Dabawenyo filmmaker Arnel Mardoquio.

Opening ceremonies would be held on the evening of December 9 at the Gaisano Mall Cinema 6. And the much-anticipated awards night will be on December 14 at the Cinematheque Davao. ADMISSION IS FREE on the Opening Night and Awards Night.
