The longest running independent film festival in country is opening its doors once again to entries from all over Mindanao. Last year (2014) saw a record-breaking number of 68 entries. This year, the organizers are coming up with a few significant changes to improve the selection for the cinema screening.

The 11th Mindanao Film Festival is calling for submissions of feature-length films, short films, documentaries, and animated short films made by Mindanawon filmmakers or films about, related to, or shot in Mindanao.

According to festival director Alama, “Our theme for MFF 2015 is The Mindanaoan as a Filmmaker. Each Mindanaoan has a unique experience of being one and if given the chance to become a filmmaker will provide unique stories and perspectives. This will be seen in the films of the festival.”

All genres are welcome as long as the film has been completed within October 2014 to October 2015, and has not been screened in the previous Mindanao Film Festival.

An entry will have the chance to win the NCCA SULYAP KULTURA AWARD.

Student Category (High School & College) – Students may participate by submitting their films in this category, with endorsement from their school duly signed by the Principal or School Representative such as Faculty.

Animated Short Film Category – any type of animation

NO REGISTRATION FEE but participants are required to promote their films independently through social media, television, radio, and other media platforms.

Those interested must submit the following:

  1. Filled out MFF Entry Form (request entry form from MFF Secretariat) with the following details:
    1. Production credits
    2. Synopsis of the film
    3. High-res Image file of film poster
  2. Screener copy of entry film with English subtitles in H.264(.MP4), MPEG2 (.mpg), or DVD format
  3. Trailer/teaser version of film

Please note that entries must follow legal guidelines on the following:

  • use of copyright material such as music, images, videos
  • employment of child talents

All requirements must be hand delivered or mailed to:

Deadline for submissions is October 28, 2015
(Mailed entries must bear postal date on or before October 28)
