MFF 2015 posterONSE… It’s the 11th year of the longest running independent regional filmmaking festival in the country — Mindanao Film Festival — brought to you by the Mindanao Film and Television and Development Foundation, Inc., the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

The 2015 Mindanao Film Festival will be held on December 9 — 15, 2015 at the Gaisano Mall Cinema 6!

The festival kicked off with two major activities — the Guerrilla Filmmaking Workshop held for 4 weekends in October, and the Guerrilla 24-Hour Film-a-thon held last November 7–8.

The Workshop’s aim is to discover young and new filmmakers in the region as they are trained to complete a short film in 2 weeks. While the Film-a-thon is a gathering of Davao’s veteran filmmakers and previous MFF awardees to complete a short film within 24 hours Amazing Race-style. The short films harvested from the two activities will all be screened during the festival proper in December.

As part of its promotion, the Mindanao Film Festival will also be holding a school caravan in various universities. Award-winning films will be screened and an open forum as well as Davao film history lecture shall also be held to further nurture the film literacy among the university students.

Last year, the 10th MFF broke records with more than 60 films — short and feature length combined — submitted for the competition. This year, MFTDFI reported to have received film entries from up and coming filmmakers. It’s definitely the year of the young blood… the beginning of a new era for Mindanao filmmaking!

Rudolph Ian Alama continues to serve as the festival director. The jury for this year’s competition will be announced soon, as well as other details of the festival.

The 11th Mindanao Film Festival is also supported by Alchemy of Vision and Light, SouthSpot Entertainment Network, Canon Philippines, Muzika Del Sur, State of Mind Productions, and Stay tuned on this website for updates.
