Filmathon IDLast November 7–8, 2015, filmmakers raced around Davao City for the Guerrilla Film-A-Thon. The competition is a 24-hour filmmaking competition where teams are given 24 hours to shoot their films. Similar to the Amazing Race, the filmmaking teams have to pass through several checkpoints where tasks are given and must be completed. The checkpoints were held around various points (Osmena Park, Rizal Park, Gaisano Mall and Roxas Night Market).

Some of the tasks are incorporating a sponsor’s product within a frame and using a particular function of the camera to achieve a shot. The official cameras used for the 2nd edition of the 24-Hour Film-A-Thon were supplied by Canon Philippines.

The race started at the Osmena Park and culminated the day after at the Peoples Park, the completed films were then screened at the Cinematheque Davao. Directors for this year’s edition are first time filmathoners Aidx Paredes, Jamir Mallari, Hamir Achacoso, Zerich Bordios, and filmathon veteran Arnel Barbarona.

The 2015 Guerrilla 24-Hour Film-A-Thon was organized by the Mindanao Film and TV Development Foundation with the support and assistance of the Davao City Tourism Operations Office, City 911, DC Police Office, City Transport and Traffic Mgt Office, the Film Devt. Council of the Philippines, National Commission for the Culture and the Arts, and Canon Philippines.

The 11th Mindanao Film Festival is also supported by Alchemy of Vision and Light, SouthSpot Entertainment Network, Muzika Del Sur, State of Mind Productions, and Stay tuned on this website for updates.
