Salamindanaw 2015

(Source: Salamindanaw.Org) The 3rd edition of SalaMindanaw International Film Festival opened last November 18 and will run until December 2, 2015 at different venues in the cities of Cotabato and General Santos. It is organized by the Mindanao Center for Cinematographic Arts (formerly the Mindanao Center for the Moving Image).

This year, 35 films — feature and short length — from Iran, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Myanmar, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and of course different regions of the Philippines are competing. “Chasing Waves” by Davao-bred filmmaker Charliebebs Gohetia is competing in the Asian Features category, while “Man in the Cinema House” by Bernard Jay Mercado is competing in the Asian Shorts category.

The Festival is recognized by NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema), an organization established in 1990 and holds its office in Sri Lanka which has since become the leading platform for the discovery and promotion of Asian cinema around the world.

For its 2015 edition, the Festival theme shall be “Flux”. As the festival continues to celebrate Regional New Wave across Asia that has produced cinemas made in the peripheries of a country’s film capital, it also adapts to new challenges and trends, as well as the evolution in the art form, thus, bringing diverse and exciting cinematic expressions to the people.
